Replacing Headlights
Ensuring that all headlight bulbs are working
properly is essential for night driving safety. Head lights are designed to help the drivers maneuver their cars more easily especially during the night.
More often than not, drivers do not know how to fix a burned out bulb and they prefer to pay a mechanic to repair it. That, however, is not that really necessary! Vehicle headlamps work very similarly to all the lighting fixtures you encounter around the home or
office, so it is not that hard to replace it.
Replacing a burned out bulb or headlight on your car is easy. First thing you need to do is determine which type of bulb your vehicle uses. If you want to replace
your lights, it is a good idea to remove the old bulb or lamp and bring it with you to the auto-parts store
to ensure an exact replacement. It is advised to replace both head lights at the same time.
Open
the hood and remove the two bolts attaching the headlight to the fender panel. Carefully remove the screw
on the head panel. Don't try too hard to turn them, or you may strip out the screwheads. Remove
the wiring harness then remove the bulb.
Afterwards, you can replace the new headlights. Put the new headlamp in place or if its halogen bulb. Remember, avoid touching
the glass on the new halogen bulb with your fingers. The oil from your fingers will ruin the bulb and cause
it to burn out. Before putting back in place try to clean any corrosion from the connector socket using an
aerosol electric contact cleaner. Check that none of the wires are damaged or frayed. Make sure that you have fully seated the wiring harnesses and confirm that it's all the
way in. Turn on the headlights and check if they are functioning properly.
